Wayne of The Hill & The Southland Times - Cribs and Configurations
Gallery One

Southland rivers and estuaries attract many fishermen, with those following the lure of the whitebait becoming so passionate about catching this delicacy that their stands become a southern variation of the “blokes shed”. The photographs from The Southland Times capture the romance of our rivers and our preoccupation with netting these tiny fish which are a favourite food of the South.

Sculptor Wayne Hill has a passion for creating pieces out of found materials and siting them in the landscape. His driftwood critters take on a persona which engages and intrigues the viewer. Shadow and reflection enhance these three dimensional forms as demonstrated so well in his recent works in the Riverton estuary.
