Marian Maguire- The Labours of Herakles

In this collection of lithographs and etchings Marian Maguire has reworked historical lithographs, old photographs and text of classical vases by casting the hero of Greek mythology as a New Zealand colonist.
These turbulent times were a difficult period of our history, a time during which great strength of character was required by both Pakeha and Maori.

A colour-coded treasure trove inspired by Dr Seuss and Sesame Street, Tickle My Senses is an interavtive exhibition of over 40 works from TheNewDowse collection. The show encourages visitors to respond to art in ways beyond just looking. By tickling our sense of touch, taste, smell, hearing and sight, visitors will enjoy a range of eclectic artwroks in innovative and playful ways.
